Is Baking Soda Good or Bad For Your Skin?

Many consider baking soda as a beneficial at home skin care remedy, but let me tell you this is a myth. In actual, baking soda is bad for your skin.

First off, baking soda is way too harsh. Baking soda digs deep below the surface of the skin which a) causes irritation b) causes redness c) dries out the skin d) alters the skinโ€™s PH level and e) causes rashes & even burns.

Second, baking soda completely strips the skin away from its natural oils. This triggers the body to produce double the amount of oil in order to make up for the lack of moisture. In the end, this only causes clogged pores and breakouts.

Third, baking soda removes the skinโ€™s protective layer that acts as a barrier against bacteria, the sun, dirt and pollution. Without a protective layer, the skin is prone to sun burns, pigmentation, acne and blemishes.
